St. Gabriel's School

St. Gabriel's is a co-educational primary school catering for children with hearing impairment and other special needs such as intellectual disability in the mild to moderate range and autism.

Specialist teaching staff at the school, and a purpose built environment, allow students in grades K-6 to achieve success through a focus on communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills. All of St. Gabriel's programs are labour-intensive. High teacher to student ratios, small class sizes and the additional costs involved in resourcing, including the use of technology for children with individual and unique needs, mean that after any available government funding and fees there is a funding deficit every year that must be met through fundraising and community support.

The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children

The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) is Australia’s largest non government provider of education, therapy and cochlear implant services for children with vision or hearing loss, their families, and the professionals who support them. Each year, thousands of Australians benefit from RIDBC’s broad range of services.

RIDBC’s services are provided from sites across Australia, including nine sites in Greater Western Sydney, and through RIDBC Teleschool, an outreach service supporting families in regional and remote areas of Australia.

RIDBC is a charity and relies significantly on the generous support of the community to provide quality and innovative services, to achieve the best outcomes for current and future generations of Australians with vision and/or hearing loss.
